When planning our remote year, one of the most important pieces to figure out was how to have a phone plan abroad.  It was also the most painful learning process. There are countless forums and blogs that offer various options, however, they were often confusing and hard to follow. Everyone has a different opinion about what works best for them and we were often torn on what path to take.

We learned the hard way. You don’t need to. I’m going to lay out our process as clearly as I can so you won’t need to look further to understand how to handle a mobile phone plan abroad. It however, is not a short read. Hang in there.

5 Shoreditch discoveries from our first week in London

The first stretch of our remote year route starts in London. We’re here for three months. Three months is a quarter of our entire year-long trip. That’s a long time.

London is huge. And expensive. It was crucial that we found a place to live here that was affordable, livable and worth three months of our time. For weeks we researched the hundreds of neighborhoods, boroughs and districts of London to decide where we wanted to plant ourselves.

5 reasons why we are doing a remote year

As this dream slowly blooms into our reality and we get closer to the April 26, 2018 departure date, I know that I can work and live remotely around the world for a year. This is right for me. I just know.

Traveling to a new international city to live, experience, eat, drink and breathe the life of the locals are just perks of this decision I have made. What I find myself wanting to get out on [digital] paper is the why.
